Date & Time: Feb 20 2026 | 12 - 1pm Location: iSTEM Building 2, Room 1218 A major challenge in pharmaceutical development is the poor aqueous solubility of majority of the crystalline active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) generated in drug discovery. Amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) improve solubility by molecularly dispersing amorphous APIs within a glassy polymer matrix; however, their utility is often constrained by limited drug loading capacity and incomplete drug dissolution. To address these challenges, we employ experimentally derived Hansen solubility parameters (HSP) to predict miscibility between APIs and polymers improving drug loading capacity, thereby optimizing the formulation phase in early stages of drug development. We also investigate the dependence of API dissolution rate on API-matrix interactions, and polymer-polymer miscibility in blend systems.
