Excellent progress is being made on the construction of the new STEM-1 (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) building. The project will eventually include the construction of two buildings, each of which will be 100,000 square feet in size.

Dr. Richard Morrison, associate professor of Chemistry, has been named a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor, the university’s highest recognition for excellence in instruction.

Kenneth W. Whitten, a professor emeritus in the UGA Department of Chemistry, passed away on April 8, 2020 at the age of 88. He was a respected member of the faculty for more than 30 years, and was a tireless supporter and benefactor
