Prof. Michael Duncan, Regents Professor and Franklin Professor in the Department of Chemistry, was recently honored with a special issue of the Journal of Physical Chemistry A celebrating his research and career. This Festschrift in the Journal of Physical Chemistry A is a tribute to honor the remarkable four-decade career of Professor Michael A. Duncan at the University of Georgia in physical chemistry, molecular spectroscopy, and cluster science. Alongside his pioneering scientific research that has advanced our understanding of molecular ions, metal clusters, and photodissociation dynamics, Prof. Duncan has also excelled as a world-class mentor who fostered independence and treated students as junior colleagues. Internationally recognized as a leader in his field, Duncan also made lasting contributions through editorial service, as senior editor of J. Phys. Chem. A for more than a decade, scientific societies, and collaborations with colleagues in Germany and many other parts of the world. Prof. Duncan has given steadfast loyalty to the University of Georgia and selfless departmental service that has profoundly elevated the chemistry program and academic culture at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
