Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy

The Chemical Sciences Magnetic Resonance facility is housed in recently renovated space in the Chemistry Building and is under the full-time direction of Dr. Quincy Teng. This laboratory houses five high field NMR spectrometers, including two instruments at 250 MHz, one at 300 MHz, one at 400 MHz, and one at 500 MHz for 1H. The instruments can perform a wide variety of multinuclear and multidimensional experiments at desired temperatures for structural and dynamic studies of biological molecules, natural products and synthetic compounds. Structural biology applications can also take advantage of the Structural Biology 600 MHz NMR instrument operated jointly with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and located in the Life Sciences Building. The research groups of James H. Prestegard, Pascale Legault, and James Omichinski, make extensive use of this instrument, as well as other high field instruments at the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center, including an 800 MHz instrument.
