Instrument ShopInstrument design, construction, and machining are performed by the University of Georgia Instrument Shop which is housed in a 40,000-square foot building. The Instrument Shop now contains eighteen major pieces of machining equipment and has extensive experience in the fabrication of a variety of chemical instrumentation, including critical low-tolerance vacuum chambers. Several Department of Chemistry research groups have had ultra-high vacuum instruments machined in this facility. The University of Georgia Electronics Design and Maintenance shop is located on campus in newly renovated facilities. The Electronics Shop has a staff of 10: two engineers, two computer technicians, five other electronics technicians, and the shop manager.
